About
I'm Zoe, I'm a birth and postnatal doula and I also offer Hypnobirthing classes in Surrey and Greater London.
I trained as a doula through nurturing birth on the back of doing midwifery a few years ago. I knew I wanted to be in this sector of work, working so closely with women and families & to develop continuity of care you don't often get when you're pregnant or go to have your baby, that is certainly not me saying the NHS don't offer incredible care, its just stating that maternity are so stretched and are unable to provide this type of care. From a young child I always had an interest in the medical industry and thought that perhaps I'd one day become a doctor.
My career certainly didn't start in medicine and nor has it ended that way, as a doula I have a wonderful amount of birth and postnatal knowledge that continues to grow, that helps guide and support women through pregnancy and birth. As a doula it enables me to support families emotionally and physically through such a special and challenging time in their lives.
As a birth doula I offer support though out the antenatal period usually a minimum of two visits to discuss your desires, your requirements and what you expect from your birth and in the postnatal period. I am then on call for you two weeks prior to the expected date of your babies arrival. I attend your birth and stay with you until you have birthed your baby and you are settled. Once you are home or if you've had a home birth (then once you've had a few days to adjust to your new family member) I pop in with some postnatal treats and debrief your birth as well as offering some postnatal support.
I also offer postnatal doula support which is at an hourly rate based on a minimum of 3 hours. A postnatal doula can help set up family life, introducing a new baby to a sibling/siblings, cook some nutritious meals for you and your family, new born support, provide you with rest and sleep, which is crucial for mental health. Offer postnatal tips and support, assist with feeding however you choose to feed your baby.
Please do contact me for more information or if you would like to meet up and chat further. I always suggest to women that they meet more than one doula to find that wonderful connection and someone who is similar to you or have similar views, after all your doula has to be there to mop your brow and help you breath through surges, really connect with you emotionally and the rest!
Finally, I'm a mother of 2 very energetic boys and have a very wonderful and supportive husband. We live in Surrey and at some stage plan to add a pup to our brood.
