My name is Lucy. I am a Mum, a nurse, a birth doula and a hypnobirthing instructor.
I live in Guildford with my husband and demanding cat. My 3 grown children are flown the nest but visit pretty much every weekend, which I love.
I trained to become a doula with Nuturing Birth in 2009. I have lived all over the world including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Dubai and New Zealand.
I am a birth doula because I want to enable each baby entering this world to be born into the arms of empowered parents full of wonder and joy at the magic of their birthing experience . One birth at a time. How you give birth really makes a difference to how you feel about yourself and how you and your partner go on to become parents. It can have an enduring affect on your baby too.
Birth can sometimes be a bewildering experience. As your birth doula I am guided by what your specific needs are regarding the birth of your baby. Emotionally and physically.
By meeting with you during your pregnancy, usually 3-4 times, we work through relaxation and massage techniques, visualizations, affirmations, preparing a birth plan and much more.
Whether it is your first birth, second or sixth I want you to remember the birth of your children with pride.
Apart from my gorgeous children, I love eating cake, drinking loose leaf tea and music.

Private Hypnobirthing workshops
As your private Hypnobirthing teacher, in the comfort of your home or in my Doula Den or over Skype/Zoom, (or a combination of all three) I will show you how to use self-hypnosis to relax and prepare, along with your partner, using the Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing technique, for a more positive birth experience.
Hypnobirthing or hypnosis for childbirth is a fun well developed course which looks into entrenched beliefs about birth.
By learning the simple yet effective and powerful techniques you can approach your birth with excitement instead of anxiety and base your decisions in knowledge rather than fear.
The full course is taught over 5 sessions of 2 hours, in an informal and restful environment learning life-skills at such a momentous and exciting time in your lives.
I recommend starting your hypnbirthing course around about your 23/24th week of pregnancy. This allows time to fix up dates into your pregnancy which are evenly spaced, ideally 2 weeks apart, but within sight of your 'guess dates'. This means you can really focus on the practise and benefit from the result. It will take daily practise to establish the trust and belief in yourself to enable the 'switch off' button when you go into labour. The daily practise will become like cleaning your teeth, the more you do it, the more you will want to do it as you feel the positive changes happening in you, around you and for your baby.
It is always possible to tailor-make a Hypnobirthing course to suit you and your life style, so just contact me for a chat about your particular situation.
