Hi I'm Jo, a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with 20 years of experience of working with bodies and people in pain. I run a small clinic with a treatment room and rehabilitation studio from a private house between Guildford and Woking.
I graduated in Western Australia in 1999 and returned there to do my masters in 2006. Since graduation I have worked for the majority of my career in private practice. I have working in highly regarded clinics in both central and west London and set up my own clinic in 2016 the year before the birth of my third child. I have a background in sport and dance injuries and have worked with professional dance and musical theatre in Covent Garden. I have had some time working for the British Army.
I love to learn and regularly complete further courses in physiotherapy, I have a certification as a pilates equipment instructor from the APPI and use my studio equipment, including a reformer and tower, to complement standard rehabilitation exercises. I also have further training in the use of Acupuncture for pain relief that i incorporate into some treatment sessions.
I love to treat mums in Pregnancy and the post-natal period and feel that my knowledge plus first hand experience of pregnancy and child birth give me a greater understanding of what it takes to recover your strength and fitness but also how to juggle life!
I have three little humans that keep me busy but I do try to practice what I preach and do some exercise (even 30 minutes squeezed in here and there is better than nothing). I'm currently obsessed with all things crafty and often have a work in progress on the go.
My most recent training have involved persistent /chronic pain management and i use a mind body and whole system approach to the assessment and treatment of people in pain. I take a long and detailed history and work with my patients to come up with a workable plan of action that is physical, cognitive and emotional.
Please do feel free to call me if you think I could help you.
