"Giving birth should be your greatest achievement, not your greatest fear" Jane Weideman
Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy! I am an experienced midwife, mother to three and co-founder of Surrey and Sussex Midwives who specialises in birth education and KG Hypnobirthing. If you are looking for antenatal classes and support with a local midwife and an opportunity to meet other parents to be in your area, then I would love to hear from you.
What makes Surrey and Sussex Midwives special?
I am a midwife who has had the honour of caring for mothers and their babies in hospital, birth centres and at home. As a midwife, I understand that each pregnancy is very unique which is why I offer a variety of private and group, unbiased antenatal and Hypnobirthing courses catered to you and your partners needs. Whatever your circumstances are be rest assured that you will be given a warm and friendly service, delivered in a sensitive way that will leave you feeling confident for birth and parenthood.
However, the contact we have won't stop when the course finishes. I will continue to personally support you for the remainder of your pregnancy and in the first few weeks with your little one. I will keep in contact with you through regular emails sharing positive birth videos and stories, useful tips and articles to read that supplement what I've taught you, and I'm there at the end of the telephone if you need additional support. We also offer a follow up postnatal visit after the birth for couples who have booked a private, at home course to offer support and talk about their birth experience.
Our main aim is to ensure you feel confident and reassured that however your baby enters the world, you will have a positive experience because you will have had all the information to make choices that were right for you and your baby.

Bump, Birth and Babyhood Course (8 hours- Private, Group or Online)
Our Bump, Birth and Babyhood course is a full antenatal programme designed to give you all the knowledge you will need to prepare you for birth and in the first few weeks with your little one. This course is offered as an online interactive course (either private or in groups of up to 5 couples local to you), or one to one in your home at a time to suit you.
What is included in this course?
We divide our Bump, Birth and Babyhood course over 4 sessions. If you would like a more detailed breakdown of this course please visit our website: www.surreyandsussexmidwives.com
Session one- We will look at how to prepare your body for birth and what to expect in the later stages of pregnancy, where to birth your baby, considering natural ways to start labour, as well as medical induction.
Session 2- The science behind birth and what happens during each 'stage' of birth, breathing techniques and positions for birth, setting up a calm birth environment and birth partners role.
Session 3- We demonstrate and practice birth massage techniques, pain relief options, consider the what if's for birth.
Session 4- This session is a baby feeding and postnatal care workshop. It's a fun and interactive workshop where we cover everything from breast and bottle feeding your baby to demonstrating a baby bath, safe sleep, travel safety and what to expect yourself physically and emotionally in the first few weeks after birth.
COST : Private, at home (£325) Private, online (£150) Online, group (£90 per couple)
KG Hypnobirthing (12 hour at home or online course)
I qualified as a KG Hypnobirthing teacher back in 2012. Hypnobirthing is a unique birth preparation course that incorporates everything you would expect in an antenatal course, but also focuses on fear release and the importance of having a positive mindset towards birth. This is achieved through understanding the science behind birth, positive language, relaxations, visualisations and breathing techniques.
It is also a fantastic course for partners to understand their role for birth. If anybody is sceptical about Hypnobirthing (particularly birth partners), I ask you to speak to anybody who has completed a KG Hypnobirthing course. If I ever want anybody to promote Hypnobirthing, it's a dad! They often begin the first session feeling rather silly and wondering what an earth they are doing here and by the end of that session they've completely got it!
Price includes KG Hypnobirthing book, downloadable MP3 and parent course folder.
COST : Private, at home (£400) Private, online (£230) Group up to 5 couples, online (£180 per couple)

It's a fun and interactive workshop where we cover everything from breast and bottle feeding your baby to demonstrating a baby bath, safe sleep, travel safety and what to expect yourself physically and emotionally in the first few weeks after birth.
