Hi, I'm Carly, a personal trainer specialising in women's health and fitness, based in Guildford. I'm a mum to two high-energy boys, I love running in beautiful places and a really good cup of coffee!
When I had my first baby, I was frustrated by the conflicting advice about exercising in pregnancy and as a new mum. Despite always enjoying exercise, I lost my confidence, and like many women I felt I had stepped into someone else's body in the weeks and months that followed. Once I had emerged from the new baby fog, I decided not to return to my former career as a lawyer and took the leap to re-train as a personal trainer, so I could help women feel confident and empowered to exercise safely during their pregnancies and beyond. I subsequently established CLC Fitness and haven't looked back since!
I am an expert in exercise during pregnancy and the postnatal period and also have a special interest in the positive impact that exercise can have on mental health and wellbeing, something borne out of my own experience of postnatal depression.
I know first hand how hard exercise can be to fit in alongside work and family commitments , so I do my utmost to ensure that my clients' training with me is both enjoyable and effective - not just another task they have to fit into their already busy weeks. I offer a mobile service (rather than operating from a gym), so I can train wherever works best for you - this can be really handy when you have a new baby or young children as you don't need to factor in additional childcare!
Level 3 Personal Trainer and also hold a specialist advanced qualification in adapting exercise for clients in pregnancy and the postnatal period.
I have an interest in non-diet approaches to nutrition and also hold a certificate in applying intuitive eating and non-diet approaches in practice from the London Centre for Intuitive Eating. If you aren't familiar with this approach, it aims to break the cycle of constant dieting by reconnecting with the body’s natural signals of hunger, fullness and satisfaction. It also encourages body acceptance.
Completed training in postnatal mental health for postnatal professionals with Mumma's Wellbeing.
I aim to keep pricing simple at CLC Fitness. Sessions are booked in blocks of either 5 or 10 and the more you book, the better the value for money. I also offer single sessions on a pay as you train basis.
COST : 1 session – £48, 5 sessions – £210 (£42 per session), 10 sessions – £400 (£40 per session)
Small group personal training
I also offer small group personal training, which is great for groups of friends who want to spread the cost and have fun working out together. I find it can help my clients to reach their goals if they introduce a bit of healthy competition and spur one another on!

It’s a full body, 30 minute workout which takes place on my local village recreation ground, first thing on Saturday mornings. Based on the principles of HIIT (or High Intensity Interval Training), it comprises a mixture of strengthening and cardio moves and is structured so that you work hard for short periods, followed by a further short period of rest. HIIT the Rec is a great all-rounder, toning all the major muscle groups and getting your lungs working and heart pumping.
Every Saturday at 0830, Onslow Village Recreation Ground, Onslow Village, Guildford (contact me to find out where on the Rec we meet).
COST : £5 per class
