About

Hi, my name is Beverley, and I am a birth and postnatal doula. I live in Banstead, Surrey with my husband, four children and mum.

I offer continuous, flexible support throughout the antenatal and postnatal period, providing practical and emotional care in the comfort of your own home as well as in hospitals throughout the local area. I am an experienced Doula, registered with the NCT and Doula UK, a qualified Mindful Hypnobirthing teacher and a qualified infant sleep coach offering Holistic coaching.

The birth doula service I offer aims to provide the additional support you and your partner need on your journey towards meeting your baby. I will help you to navigate your way through all the information and choices that you are faced with, and be there for any unexpected ‘detours’ along the way. I will focus solely on you, and your partner’s needs, make space for you to listen to your body, and to allow time for well thought over decisions to be made.

I believe the fourth trimester (the first three months after birth) should be a time when you are well supported, both emotionally and practically, allowing you to adjust, at your own pace, to life with a new-born. You should not  feel guilty or incapable if you need help –love and assistance should be something that everyone has available to them, allowing you to grow in confidence in your new role. I aim to offer loving support in my role as a postnatal doula.

As a holistic sleep coach I offer gentle solutions for your sleep needs. Your sleep situation is highly personal to you and is only a problem if you see it as a problem. I do not use a one solution fits all approach, as every child and family are different. Through getting to know each other during our meeting, we will work together to produce a sleep plan that is personalised for you. The plan will be one that you have chosen to be achievable, acceptable and realistic for your situation and needs.

I offer both group and 1:1 mindful hypnobirthing courses on line and in person, which include practical hypnobirthing and mindfulness techniques as well as enhanced understanding of the psychology of birth to help you prepare for a positvie birth experience.

I love my job, and have a real passion for supporting families through this important and exciting period of transition.

A postnatal doula has the care of the mother at the heart of what she does and looks after her as a mother or aunty might have in the past.
I can support the mother as needed, including: –

Listening to the mother talk about whatever she needs to, be this how to care for the baby, anxieties, joys, debriefing the birth or just having an adult conversation about the news!
Playing with older siblings
Watching the baby so mum can have some time, maybe to rest or to take a bath, or to just sit.
Shopping, running errands, cooking light meals.
Light housework that will help the mother feel more relaxed.
Assistance with breastfeeding, or bottle feeding (or any other feeding method).
Help mother to find and access local resources.

Testimonials

We can thoroughly recommend Beverley as a birth doula. From the outset we knew we were in good hands; Beverley has a wealth of knowledge and useful tips but as importantly supports you in your decisions throughout birth. She has a calm demeanour which obviously helps everyone else relax. Our birth had complications and was not straightforward, but it was reassuring to have Beverley there as we went through the options at each stage. She is a kind and thoughtful person, just the type of person you would want with you in such a personal and important process.

– Mother of baby Lucy

We don’t have any family nearby, so we wanted Beverley to provide support to me and tips on caring for the baby. We felt that she met all our expectations, offering good support and reassurance as well as a shoulder to cry on – literally. She made me feel that everything I was going through was normal and offered a sounding board for me. Beverley is really friendly and caring. She is a hard worker and was on the lookout for things that needed to be done, she didn’t wait for me to ask! I felt that we had a good rapport, both when we met antenatally and postnatally.

– Mother of baby Ralph

I really liked Beverly’s personality as a generous, precise, experienced and attentive person. My partner and I really felt reinsured by the descriptions of the course of actions and the adapted state of mind for every of them. Beyound Hypnobirthing, we also fund some of the more practical / logistical information useful. I really like the analogy with the other mammals and to remind myself that I would need a similar context to give birth as peacefully as possible. I found Beverley’s slides very clear.
